Sat 9.4. at 7 pm (Due to corona, Pauanne canceled) Ilkka Heinonen, Aija Puurtinen & Brooklynin satu

JuuriJuhla-RotFest closing concert.

Due to the unfortunate corona case, the Pauanne band's performance at the closing concert of the JuuriJuhla Festival Sat 9.4. is canceled. The replacement performer is the jouhikko artist Ilkka Heinonen. Aija Puurtinen & Brooklynin satu will be performed in the second half of the concert as planned.
Jouhikko's ancient sound is sifted through Renaissance palaces and Old Believers' cottages in Karelia, as Ilkka Heinonen, a jouhikko player, combines Karelian dance melodies with the aesthetics of live music and live electronics. Heinonen's jouhikko wanders at the interfaces of the sacred and the earthly, and sounds both rough and delicate.

Aija Puurtinen & Brooklynin satu takes music through its time travel to American Finnish migration and its mental landscape. There is an epoch made acoustically and semi-acoustically, presented in both Finnish and “Fingelska”, which strongly draws on Finnish and American folk music. The spice is folk, blues and even Jamaican ingredients.
